I’m trying to notify people on my email list that my account has been compromised. Yahoo cut me off saying I may be spreading spam. How do I override and contact my email list?
Answer:
Sounds like your E-mail account has been compromised, or you picked up a virus.
Immediately have your computer checked for a ‘bug’ or ‘bugs.’ If you have the proper programs, do the scans yourself, if not you need to take your computer to some one who can.
Once it is clean of pests, install a firewall and an anti-virus program if you do not have one yet.
I strongly recommend a program for malware and adware also.
After you finish this, then you need to contact service representative and explain you took care of the problem, and get things straightened out.

Once you can get back into your account, then go in and change your password, using a good strong one.
Also, check your account information and make sure no information was changed, if it was change it back immediately.
Then, you will have to inform your contacts that it was not you sending that mail, but they need to check their computers in case they were also infected.

I am not. Obviously, something I am sending her is infected and when she opens up the mail on her end, it’s this viagra ad. Thing is, I’ve sent it to my pastor, my uncles who are in their 70′s, how embarrassing. What could this be? A virus? How do I take care of this problem?

Every day a get a mail from my friends questioning me what were im sending them every day. They are getting a mail from me whit some viagra advertising messages. i don’t know what to do any more. How do i stop this from happening? Tnx in forward.
Answer:
Your account has been compromised, Yahoo strongly suggests changing your password and do a virus/malware scan. It will stop. You should let your contacts know that you didn’t send it intentionally and to not click the link, it is a strong possibility it’s a virus/worm. I speak from experience. For you once you change the password it will stop.

What do I do now?
How can I prevent that from happening again
Answer:
I don’t think it is a virus
What I do think has happened is when you have sent out
multiple post emails to all your contact at once some one
has copied your contact list from that posting
and are using it to spam your friends
The way to avoid that is when sending multi emails
use the Bcc funtion and people only see their own names
on it.
Have a good one.

I am running a full scan of Kaspersky and it seems to not detect anything. About 3 weeks ago it show on my report that I had a virus, but I never got options to do anything and I think it it affecting my email.
Answer:
it’s actually probably not a virus in your email as much as somehow a bot got your password. Try changing your password and all problems should be solved. Just be more careful about where you enter your password and email at next time! (or using the same password for everything is a good way to have this happen also)

All my friends are getting this ad and think it is from me. Must be a virus that got in. Do I have to close my yahoo account or can this be fixed. My Norton said it can’t help me with spam etc on my yahoo mail. What can I do? What can Yahoo do?
Answer:
Yes, you and everyone in your contact list is probably infected as well, if they clicked on it.
You can keep your accounts, they are on a server. However, your browser has been hijacked. I would highly suggest that you stay away for any sites that require your password and other personal information such as bank accounts.
You will need to remove this with anti-virus tools available free on the web. Be sure you reboot in Safe mode with networking before doing so.
